Farmington Hills, Michigan, March 9, 2009: The Detroit Chapter of TiE, The Indus Entrepreneurs, is pleased to announce it has signed on as a network partner with Microsoft(registered company) BizSparkTIM. As a volunteer or attendee at many functions through out the area they have observed some of the BEST times where DETROIT has SHINED! Their husband works in Detroit and they live in the suburbs. Their parents lived and worked for several years and always adored the city and culture. It seemed to them the bit did not want to point out anything great.
I appreciate that Detroit is certainly one of a small number of cities in America that rethinking what a city can be and is and is thinking critically. You'll find a number of the very awesome thinkers and individuals in the world right here in Detroit redefining what the word "city" means: Tyree Guyton and the Heidelberg Project, Gina Reichert & Mitch Cope at Design 99, Grace Lee Boggs, (and they could go on and on...). They are not attempting to make Detroit be like some place they are looking to celebrate what Detroit is and to help it come to terms with what it now is. Other towns may uncritically follow the trail but Detroit is thinking quite critically about what this means to have been the epitome and peak of Modernity also to have followed Modernity to it's legitimate end.
The Detroit Program seeks to boost long-term economic chance and re-establish the town as the center of a vibrant area. Denby seniors with bricks they decorated for the project's next period. Students at the eastside high school pored over the Detroit Future City book. Using the assistance of Detroit Future City board members, they were able to have the most blighted house on nearby Kelly Road torn down and materials hauled away. Charlie used the double fold bow TiE design for mine.
